Nickel superalloy metal components are characterized by an excellent combination of mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and high temperatures stability. While static casting is the most widespread casting technique, the use of centrifugal casting technology allow to produce near-netshape casts of high metallurgical quality. The superalloys, such as 625, are characterized by the precipitatation of a large number of second phases that can improve or be dedrimental on the mechanical properties. The present thesis work is about the analysis of alloy 625 components realized with diff erent chemical compositions and manufacturing techniques. Macro and microscopic investigations techniques have been performed in order to better understand the mechanisms that governs the solidi fication and the formation of the Laves phase, and the way in which this modifi es the mechanical properties of the casts. The results show that morphology, amount, size and distribution of this second phase are infuenced by the presence of alloying elements such as Si, Fe and C as well as from the melt cooling rate.

Abstract
The results show that morphology, amount, size and distribution of this second phase are infuenced by the presence of alloying elements such as Si, Fe and C as well as from the melt cooling rate.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
