Abstract

With the term Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) it is defined the set of systems associated to the application of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), better known as drones, that includes the platform, payload, ground station, pilot and data management system. The UAVs are defined as aircrafts piloted by remote controls (they do not have a human pilot on board). With the opening of UAVs to the civil world, the attention on this technology started to increase day by day. Their possible applications are numerous. From Environment and Society to Utility, from Infrastructures to Agriculture, these are only some of the sectors in which UAVs have demonstrated their usefulness. Among them, there is the Logistics and Transport, that is one of most relevant industries in which exploiting the potentialities of drones.
