In the last few decades there has been a major diffusion of structures characterized by a short operational phase. They are defined temporary structures and they are usually built during international events like the Olympic Games or the Universal Expositions. The aim of this work is to develop a methodology to assess the environmental impacts, using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach, due to this kind of structures. Firstly a literature review has been carried out. Later, technological solutions and possible end of life scenarios have been compared in order to find the best one. In particular, two different methodologies for the end-of-life allocation are presented. Main differences are related to the choice of the functional unit and the system boundaries. The approach here defined has been applied on three typical temporary structures. The steel structure with steel pole foundations results to be the one with lower environmental impacts. If we do not consider the foundations, the wood structure becomes the best one. Among the end of life scenarios the requalification in loco results to be the best one while the relocation can be considered after setting a maximum value for the relocation distance.

Abstract
Among the end of life scenarios the requalification in loco results to be the best one while the relocation can be considered after setting a maximum value for the relocation distance.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
