Design and implementation of the Bill of Sale as a new theme into the corporate data warehouse

Data warehouse is an essential contemporary issue for an organization. Data Warehouses are collections of data coming from different data sources, used mostly to support decision making and data analysis in a corporate. Data in a Data Warehouse is extracted and loaded from different data sources (including SQL Server, DB2, Oracle and flat files) using Extract, Transfer, and Load (ETL) tools. This master thesis was carried out at D'ARCO ITALIA S.R.L. in Milan, Italy. The subject of this study is to design and implement "Bill of Sale"(in Italian: Bollettine) as new theme in the Corporate E-Buy's current data warehouse with IBM DataStage tool. Firstly, basic concepts of data warehouse and the steps of data warehouse processes are introduced, and then the process for "Bill of Sale" in the Corporate E-Buy's current data warehouse is presented in detail. In this study, a data warehouse has been designed in order to link the "Sales notes" with "Sales receipts"(in italian:Scontrino) by using IBM DataStage tool. These could then in turn supply decision makers in the corporate E-Buy with the facts to help them make better business decisions.
