Performance evaluation and material selection of internals of mass transfer equipments

Engineer to order is a strategy of production where the company starts manufacturing after reception of an order by the client. Most of the times the products in this case are highly customized and involve new research and innovation carried out by the technical office of the industry to meet customer demands. The engineering department in this case is the decoupling point between customer and industry. The production department has to wait till the engineering department releases the new designs and bill of materials, the procurement office is also contacted after the design has been finalized to start purchasing the new material required to manufacture the product. The quality department has a key role in this company having a good interface between outsource suppliers, procurement and production departments. Meeting the deadlines provided by the customer and managing the process in this case is a very demanding task. The purpose of this thesis is to study the performance and material selection of equipments and their environmental impacts on the nature and human being.

Dall’ingegneria all’ordine è una strategia di produzione in cui l'azienda inizia la produzione dopo la ricezione di un ordine da parte del cliente. La maggior parte delle volte i prodotti sono altamente personalizzati e necessitano il coinvolgimento del reparto di ricerca e innovazione con l'ufficio tecnico per soddisfare le richieste dei clienti. L'ufficio tecnico in questo caso è il punto di disaccoppiamento tra il cliente e l'industria. Il reparto di produzione deve attendere fino a quando il dipartimento di ingegneria rilascia i nuovi design dei materiali; l'ufficio appalti viene contattato anche dopo che il disegno è stato finalizzato per avviare l'acquisto dei nuovi materiali necessari alla fabbricazione del prodotto. Il reparto di qualità ha un ruolo chiave in azienda con una buona interfaccia tra fornitori esterni, appalti e reparti di produzione. Soddisfare le scadenze fornite dal cliente e gestire il processo in questo caso è un compito molto impegnativo. Lo scopo di questa tesi è quello di studiare le prestazioni e la selezione dei materiali e delle attrezzature, verificando il loro impatto ambientale.
