A METHOD FOR WORKING WITH CINEMATIC CITY - A MANIFESTO FOR URBAN STALKING The relationship between architecture and cinema has begun with the developments in moving image technology in the 20th century. These developments have influenced the way of thinking, exploring and perceiving the space and contributed to understand built environment. The main purpose of this study is to provide theoretical research into how representations of cities after World War II reveal multi-dimensional relationships in Italian cinema, landscape and urban space. Different Italian directors’ approaches to cities are investigated within physical and mental aspects of post-World War II Italian cinema, from the years of “Neorealism” to the time of Italy’s “economic miracle”(1940s-1960s). The main scope of this study is to demonstrate how the architectural images of cities are reflected through the films and discussed based on an architect’s point of view.

Abstract
The main scope of this study is to demonstrate how the architectural images of cities are reflected through the films and discussed based on an architect’s point of view.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
