Transformation on abandoned military buildings. Country of interest : Macedonia

Abstract As the main subject in the work that Is following are taken abandoned military buildings in the country of Macedonia. With the process of transferring the system of the country from military to police country, these kind of buildings had been left apart without any solution for their further usage. After few attempts of the governmental structures to find some solution for this huge areas left without any functions sometimes in the middle of the city, finally few solutions for some of them were adopted and this complexes become subject of interest. This work will not talk about the solutions of the present developments of some of them , but would try to find new way that will provide best conditions to satisfy all the sides. Beginning of this work based on the research that were done about this specific buildings and with mapping are presented all the military barracks in Macedonia that are situated in17 cities. One part of this work is consisted of Atlas of maps showing the position of this buildings in the city and organization of the military complex itself. After the atlas is presented, analysis are showing the little conclusion that will indicate conceptual solution for this kind of areas. What was closed and controlled before, restricted and forbidden will open its gates and welcome the users the visitors, everyone who is willing to enter and be part of the atmosphere. Proposals are made for thee of the represented military areas. The choice of the tree areas is based on more aspects, but basically after the typology is defining three groups is decided to take example of each of them and apply the concept. Three solutions are proposing three different types of green areas according to the specificity of the different areas, conditions and surroundings. All of them are with different programs and functions, but always representing the lungs of the city.
