Business plan per lo sfruttamento della Jatropha Curcas per la produzione di energia

This dissertation aims to estimate a business planning initiative which consists in the set up of a Jatropha Curcas plantation in Mozambique. Through the presentation of the subject, the analysis of the possibilities of realization of this initiative and the analysis of the international competitive context according to the market – supply chain - regulations parameters, this report focuses on the entrepreneurial aspects of the initiative. Firstly, the dissertation introduces the case study hypothesis and the consequent assumptions used for developing the case study; secondly, it assesses the critical aspects and opportunities of starting up a plantation of Jatropha Curcas oilseeds. The preliminary data analysis contributes to formalize a strategy able to cope with issues of siting, production and distribution management, human resources and capital sourcing and industrial relationship management. Furthermore, the report identifies in details the time schedule and the cost of all activities necessary to the operational aspects of the initiative with particular attention to the “no measurable” factors analysed through the PEST analysis. Economic-financial data of the project, the values of performance indicators, the measures of the investment estimation and the gap between the measurement and the results provide a valid support to the qualitative analysis. The development and the findings of the case study highlight the positive and negative aspects of the project confirming the potential of the entrepreneurial idea, its profitability and its economic and environmental sustainability on a medium-long terms.

 La presente tesi di laurea si propone di valutare un’iniziativa di business planning che preveda il set up di una piantagione di Jatropha Curcas in Mozambico. Dopo aver presentato l’argomento, aver effettuato l’analisi dello stato dell’arte e del contesto competitivo internazionale secondo lo schema mercato-filiera-normativa, la relazione si focalizza sull’iniziativa imprenditoriale. Vengono in primis illustrate le ipotesi e le assunzioni adottate per la simulazione; di seguito è analizzata l’installazione di una piantagione di semi oleaginosi di Jatropha Curcas nelle sue criticità e opportunità. Sulla base dei dati preliminari è formalizzata una strategia d’azione per far fronte alle problematiche di siting e gestione della produzione, distribuzione, gestione delle risorse umane e delle relazioni industriali e reperimento del capitale. Nel dettaglio sono tempificate e costificate tutte le attività necessarie alla gestione operativa. Particolare attenzione è prestata alle problematiche relative ai fattori “non quantificabili” per i quali è stata effettuata un’analisi di tipo PEST. A sostegno dell’analisi qualitativa, vengono forniti i dati economico-finanziari del progetto, i valori degli indicatori di prestazione, le metriche di valutazione dell’investimento, degli scostamenti con i relativi risultati e commenti. Il lavoro svolto ha permesso di mettere in luce plus e minus del progetto pilota confermando le aspettative in merito alla bontà dell’idea imprenditoriale, alla sua profittabilità e alla sua sostenibilità economica e ambientale di medio-lungo periodo.
