The target of this Master thesis is to look for and recognize a palimpsest of signs, rules and memories in an area apparently free of such, as if a clean sweep had been made in the middle of the city. The design is here a tool of investigation to find conceiled hints, past memories and hidden laws ruling over an appartenlty lawless space. To perform such an analysis, the area of choice is the harbour island of "Bassin de la Citadelle" in the city of Le Havre, in the North of France. The island only hosts old, dismissed and unused warehouses, and its current layout is a large indifferentiated concrete shield, with a dedicated significant infrastructural system. The design methodology, intertwining analytical and interpretative reading of the area of interest, uses such readings as a starting point to propose a configuration meant to support future developments of the island. The island itself turns then from a simple support structure to a new focus point inside the wider french metropolitan area.

Abstract
The island itself turns then from a simple support structure to a new focus point inside the wider french metropolitan area.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
