According to the International Disaster Database, EM-DAT, about 1.3 million people were lost their lives, 3 billion people were injured or left their housing and about 1.8 trillion USD economic damages were incurred by disasters from 2000 to 2014. After disaster, how these numerous people are keeping on their life? What should and could do architecture for who has been lost their families, their houses and their livelihood? This thesis consists in two parts -research and project. The first part, research, is about understanding man-made or natural disaster and about the shelter process after disaster. In order of time sequence it divided in three phases, -Emergency Shelter, Transitional Shelter and Reconstruction. The second part is the design proposal on the base of first part’s research. It is impossible to avoid upcoming disasters but I think we can reduce unnecessary losses through careful the site selection, shelter design and construction detail. The intention of this thesis follows the way to find a home, not only a psysical building -house-, but also as a place where feels a sense of belongings, where could be consoled and be encouraged for affected people.
