Community based and with a touch of vernacular, the vision for the early learning centre is based on the principle of fostering growth in the community whilst re-awakening and promoting the dialogue between user, context and built environment for overall functionalism, suitability and increased usability. As architecture is not an empty building, but is the vital interchange between building, environment and participant, sustainable solutions are sought that are back-boned on environmental considerations, social sustainability considerations, energy efficiency considerations, passive design considerations and indoor and outdoor spatial qualities. The learning facility not only recognises the issues Ugandans face, but also strives to meet and surpass the educational and developmental needs of the villagers of Mbarara district. The school’s design will promote active learning, merging traditional classroom education with community interaction and practical skills. (University of Texas, 2013)

Abstract
(University of Texas, 2013)File | Dimensione | Formato | |
