The city of Tehran is a narrative story. Both the story and the city are the termination of dreams and ideals of the people with history and culture who live in the present and think about the future. The story of Tehran is the history of 100 years historical, cultural and social evolution of Iranian people. The city that was prominent for its greenery lands, plane trees and gardens but unfortunately today nothing has remained from the history and identity of the past. Everything in the city from social life to the urban form has lost its meaning and function. For instance the public squares in the past were gathering places for social interaction and communication. Their meaning and function has completely changed. They are transformed to the public infrastructure nodes for crossing and passing the cars and residents.Everyday, people cross from each other quickly without stopping to communicate. Consequently the meaning of the pedestrian paths also have changed. They are transformed to the streets in human scale. While in the past, people had social interaction and conversation several hours in public area in the cityTehran is the city of reflection, city of silence and the city without social conversation. In the consequences of industrialization every thing has changed its historic meaning and found their contemporary definition. A meaning without beauty, emotion and identity. The city in reality is an art installation. The installation that the society has made unconsciously and individuality represents itself strongly in this installation, a city without collectivism. Everyone has made its own territory as he wants. The city of industrial glasses and mirrors. The glasses and the mirrors that have grown gradually instead of trees and plants and they make it difficult to breath. The installation s of the glass, concrete and steel buildings from north to south instead of the trees-which were once the reason of naming Tehran as “Chenarestan”(The city of platanus). The City that has transformed its green installations to industrial. The installations that not only cover the sky but make the city difficult to breathAs I witnessed the transformation of the city during my life, I was always thinking about how it can be possible to revive the forgotten identity and meaning of the city. How it can be possible to change the glass city to the green city again. How it can be possible to host the green trees like the old Tehran. And how it can be possible to stop the inhabitants from their daily life for a moment to breathe calmly and talk to each other for a while. This research and project for me has not been only an academic thesis. This book is the book of my dreams for my hometown. The utopia that I have always in my mind to restore my hometown to the greenery and fresh city like its past. Therefore,in this research I tried to propose the solution for seeing my hometown with reviling of symbolic elements, full of passions and human interaction.
