This thesis consists of a project for the renovation and reconstruction of an old cinema located in the center of Sofia. The final features are reached through a design process based on different approaches, from context analysis to the provision of a new identity of the space. The two main topics of interest of our thesis are: 1) In times of economic crisis, how can an emerging market such as Bulgaria provide a scenario for low cost retail which incorporates an enhanced customer experience and education 2) Renovation and reconstruction of old cinemas (spaces which have lost their identity and character as a result of globalization and the emergence of multiplex cinemas) In search for a solution to these two issues, we are trying to build a rapport between the past and the future and to present a concept for a new form of retail, in line with the consumer needs in the context of Sofia. The thesis research is composed of an introductive part with a brief history of retail and the evolution of shopping, then going deeper into the thesis topic of analyzing consumer behavior and shopping experience.
Questa tesi consiste da un progetto per la renovazione e ricostruzione di una ex cinema al centro di Sofia. Le caratteristiche finali vengono raggiunti attraverso un processo di progettazione basate su approcci diversi, dall'analisi del contesto alla formulazione di un nuovo linguaggio al nostro spazio. I due temi principali d’interesse della nostra tesi sono: 1) In tempi di crisi economica, come può un mercato emergente come la Bulgaria fornire uno scenario per low cost retail che fornisce un’ulteriore educazione ed una migliore esperienza per il cliente. 2) Ristrutturazione e ricostruzione di vecchi cinema (spazi che hanno perso la loro identità e carattere a causa della globalizzazione e l'emergere di cinema multisala) Ricercando una soluzione a questi due problemi, noi stiamo cercando di costruire un rapporto fra il passato e il future e di presentare il concetto per una nuova forma di retail, in linea sul esigenza del contesto di Sofia. La tesi di ricerca è composta da una parte introduttiva con una breve storia del retail e l'evoluzione dello shopping, andando poi ad analizzare in piu detagli il comportamento dei consumatori e l'esperienza di shopping.
