City regional park design under the influence of situationism

With the development of our economy and the process of urbanization, many problems have raised, one of which is the loss of the public life. That is why city makes people feel bland and numb, which leads to series of social problems. With the guidance of macro-development ideas, such as the twelfth five-year plan and so on, building a vivid living city is gradually becoming the developing goal of every city. The essential key to awake public life must be found to achieve the goal. In 2011, an essay that published by Beijing park management centre, defines “Regional Park”, a new concept, and gives an identity that it is the key of building vivid living cities. So, can Regional Park awake public life? In Europe and America, there are discussions and strategies dealing with the loss of public life. “Situationist” is an important one of these. Situationist was born in Europe when economy was rapidly recovery with the help of Marshall Plan and the urbanization intensified after the Second World War. Now more and more western philosophers, ideologists and city theorists pay attention to situationist in a new perspective way, and convert it in base of critical thinking, wishing to solve city problems by this theory. However, in our country, systematic research about this have not been started. Based on this historical situation, by means of the theoretical research and practical conversion of situationism, this article discusses the methodology and experiences accumulated through inspecting city regional park area, hoping to explore new thought for designing the city public space and regain the loss of urban public life.
