The following thesis is developed on the basis of an internship carried out in purchasing function in Pirelli Tyre, Milan. The growing importance of the corporate social responsibility - CSR - influences the companies’ strategy bringing them to pay more attention and effort to have a sustainable development. The really and deeply CSR approach entails a lot of activities to do in the company itself but also in its supply chain. Always more frequently companies had accountable for supplier’s actions. In this thesis, at the first, there is a brief literature review about CSR and raising strategic role of purchasing and supplier relationship. In the second parts it explores the supplier relationship model of one of the ATX automotive Company focusing on assessment of sustainability of its suppliers. Since a few years companies has recognised the add value for both, company and supplier, that could be achieve if its supply chain is more sustainable.
