The main scope of this thesis has been the study focused on the structural design modality and building national code currently used in developing country as China. During this study, the student has faced for the first time a complex and large scale design of a 300m building tall such as the Nanjing International Center. This work has been promoted by a bilateral student exchange program between Politecnico di Milano and Jiaotong University in Beijing. Thank to this experience the student has considerably improved his skills in structural design. Moreover, during the time spent in Beijing, the student had the possibility to work four months for a prestigious engineering firm such as BuroHappold Engineering as part of the structure design team. This experience helped remarkably the work of thesis.
