Abstract
Starting from an existing variational model about propagation of fractures in brittle materials induced by a thermal shock, we here present some new techniques to tackle the heavy numerical discretization. We introduce a proper error estimator to derive an anisotropic mesh adaptation procedure in order to reduce the computational costs. Moreover, we recover an inverse problem for the estimate of a parameter of the model. Since measured data are abundant in this field, this formulation may be used to determine and classify the parameters involved in the problem.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
