• TOPIC The city of Rotterdam has suffered a series of changes during the years, leaving behind its historical context and part of its identity, is well known that the city was almost completely reconstructed in the modernist era, leaving the human figure out of the context, and hiding any clue of the old city. The research wants to focus on the relationship that develops between public urban space and people, also introduce the water as element of special importance in the city, which takes special importance in the site in which this element took part in the past, and in the city just by being a very important port city surrounded by this element, and link it in the site with the market hall and life surrounding the area, investigating how the contemporary transformation processes give new life to the element of water, designing a new area for the forgotten site next to the famous Markthal by a system combining both physical and social urban space. • GOAL The research aims to show how important is for the city of Rotterdam nowadays having a project with the necessary characteristics to improve the social life, to return de lively city that used to be, to have at the same time a sustainable project in this place that can complete the space of the Markthal and surroundings, to remind the importance of water as a structuring resource for the new public spaces, in both aesthetic and sustainable ways, thanks to a new ecological awareness in the city, and rereading as the shape and the important role that plays in order to adapt to the changes that the city have gained can be designed a new way of living and using public spaces. • METHOD/STRATEGIE The research, drawing on the analysis of case studies, seeks to identify ways in which, in the contemporary project, can be define the identity of the public space to project a new urban space that can meet and complete the needs of people and at the same time a space in relation with the water and the existing surroundings of the open market and the market hall. By studying these examples, which are also looking into the past of historical cases able to illustrate the trends, the research wants to define the character of the public management and try to adapt a relation with the water.
• ARGOMENTO La città di Rotterdam ha subito una serie di cambiamenti nel corso degli anni, lasciando dietro il suo contesto storico e parte della sua identità, è ben noto che la città fu quasi completamente ricostruita in epoca modernista, lasciando la misura umana fuori dal contesto, e si ha nascosto qualsiasi indizio della città vecchia. La ricerca vuole concentrarsi sul rapporto che si sviluppa tra spazio pubblico urbano e persone, anche introdurre l'acqua come elemento di particolare importanza nella città, prendendo particolare importanza nel sito in cui questo elemento ha partecipato in passato, e nella città solo fatto di essere una città portuale molto importante, circondato da questo elemento, e collegarlo al sito con il mercato coperto e la vita che circonda la zona, indagando come i processi di trasformazione contemporanee danno nuova vita al l'elemento acqua, la progettazione di una nuova area per il sito dimenticato vicino al famoso Markthal da un sistema che combina spazio urbano sia fisico che sociale. • META La ricerca si propone di mostrare quanto è importante per la città di Rotterdam al giorno d'oggi avere un progetto con le caratteristiche necessarie per migliorare la vita sociale, per tornare la città e stata una volta, e al tempo stesso di avere un progetto sostenibile in questo posto che può completare lo spazio del Markthal e dintorni, per ricordare l'importanza dell'acqua come risorsa strutturazione dei nuovi spazi pubblici, in entrambi i sensi estetici e sostenibili, grazie a una nuova consapevolezza ecologica in città, e rileggere la forma e l’importante ruolo che svolge in modo da adattarsi ai cambiamenti che la città ha guadagnato può essere progettato un nuovo modo di vivere e l'utilizzo di spazi pubblici. • METODO/STRATEGIA La ricerca, attingendo alla analisi di casi, cerca di identificare modi in cui, nel progetto contemporaneo, può essere definita l'identità dello spazio pubblico per proiettare un nuovo spazio urbano che possa soddisfare e completare le esigenze delle persone e allo stesso tempo uno spazio in relazione con l'acqua e le frazioni esistenti del mercato aperto e la sala mercato. Studiando questi esempi, che sono anche alla ricerca nel passato di casi storici in grado di illustrare le tendenze, la ricerca vuole definire il carattere della gestione pubblica e cercare di adattare una relazione con l'acqua.

Abstract
