Abstract

The interest in Project Based Organisations has increased in the last decades due to the adaptability to the market demand. The literature about this topic has augmented considerably but there are many sub-streams and the connections between them are not clear. This work contributes to the understanding of the connection between areas of the organisations, presents the advances in literature for some areas, and identifies areas that need further research. The methodology established for this work included a selection of a framework to be used as a structure for the search of information and the development of a literature review; the variations in the name of the organisation were considered to cover all project-based forms. The organisational framework selected was the Galbraith’s Star Model; the search included the main dimensions defined by this author and other terms related to those. The analysis of the literature led to established that the areas more developed are Strategy, Structure and Processes and there is a strong link between them to reach organisation’s strategic objectives. Areas as Human Resources and Reward System need to be more evaluated to understand its influence in the generation of competitive advantage.
