The thesis discusses the quality culture of Foxconn Technology Group, which is the largest Electronics Manufacturing Services Company in the world. Foxconn is famous for its efficiency in manufacturing and assembly of 3C products and has a large set of customers such as Apple, HP, Huawei and Sony. However, in recent years Foxconn has gained more attention from the public because of the negative news involving quality defects and labor problems. Contract manufacturing mode is unprofitable but brings about great pressure to Foxconn. The company is now seeking for technology transition and business transition to keep improving its manufacturing efficiency and to make more profit. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze Foxconn’s quality management methodologies and existing problems, as well as to find solutions to make the company achieve continuous improvement. The work consists of five parts, beginning with the introduction of Foxconn Technology Group and competitors analysis. The second part specifies the quality management system in the company, involving problem solving methods, supplier management methods and evaluation standards in the contract manufacturing industry. The third part discusses the existing problems occurring in the company based on internal and external satisfaction survey, along with the remedial actions taken by Foxconn. The fourth part illustrates the solutions and strategic changes that Foxconn has made to achieve continuous improvement. Finally, we draw the conclusion and give suggestions to future research work direction.
