International Wildlife Center. Kruger National Park - South Africa

The following report traces our work on the International Wildlife Center, a project based on an idea competition brief, released in October 2014. This projects relevance lies in the topics energy conservation and reduction of energy consumption, as well as international tourism and wild life research. Choosing the location of the project site was the first step in our search for strategies to sustainably manage the energy consumption throughout the life time of the building. Our investigations on the cultural context in terms of architecture and technologies as well as our own reflections on the meaning of International tourism inside the Kruger National Park today supported our decisions during the architectural design phase of this project, as did our detailed energy analysis on the volumetric form. The main emphasis of this report will be on the technical detailing of our plans to materialize our initial ideas on sustainable strategies in the blow-up drawings.

Il seguente report traccia il nostro lavoro sull‘ International Wildlife Center, un progetto basato su un‘idea di un concorso pubblicato nell‘ Ottobre 2014. L‘importanza di tale progetto si basa sui temi di conservazione energetica e riduzione dei consumi di energia, così come sul turismo internazionale e sulla ricerca riguardante flora e fauna selvatiche. Scegliere il sito di progetto è stato il primo passo nella nostra ricerca strategica di sostenibilità e gestione del consumo energetico che l‘edificio avrà durante la sua esistenza. Le nostre indagini sul contesto culturale per quanto riguarda l‘architettura e le tecnologie, contemporaneamente alle nostre personali riflessioni sul significato di International Tourism all‘interno del Kruger National Park, hanno guidato le nostre decisioni durante la fase di progettazione architettonica, e la nostra attenta analisi energetica. Questo report vuole dare una particolare enfasi ai particolari tecnologici, per materializzare le nostre idee iniziali sulle strategie di sostenibilità individuabili nei disegni di dettaglio.
