The objective of this work is the mechanical characterization of polycarbonate because this is a good material for experimental stress determination and separation by photoelastic and thermoelastic measurements. The characterization is based on static test (tensile test), for the determination of viscoelastic property and stress-strain curve until rupture. Those types of tests are implemented on finites elements software to obtain numerical description of polycarbonate behaviour. The mechanical characterization moreover included new thermographic techniques for the determination of an elastic damage limit, proposed in literature by Risitano. Finally dynamic tests on compact test were done with the thermal measurements of surface temperature for the application of experimental fracture mechanics on crack tip. Those thermal results are analysed for the determination of the intensity factor by TSA (Thermal Stress Analysis); the values found are very similar to the theoretical, photoelastic and numerical ones.

Abstract
Those thermal results are analysed for the determination of the intensity factor by TSA (Thermal Stress Analysis); the values found are very similar to the theoretical, photoelastic and numerical ones.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
