Abstract
In the last decades, there has been a growing interest in the re-discovered field of Social Entrepreneurship. After presenting a proper literature review regarding the concepts that build up the Social Entrepreneurship phenomenon, the aim of this work is to highlight through the analysis of several and varied case studies those patterns that contribute to the creation of value, both social and economical, by Social Enterprises. The selection of the list of case studies has been approached with the objective of creating a consistent cross section of the successful realities within the Social Enterprise ecosystem. Through a comparative analysis based on specific characteristics and through the development of the Social Business Model Canvas for each case, common features have been identified and constitute the value added of this work in the present state of art of this topic. Finally, the outcome of this work has originated from the lessons learnt from Corporate Social Responsibility theories and brings Social Entrepreneurship to a new and independent level. Speaking the business language, Social Enterprise has resulted to be oriented and profoundly influenced by the inherent mission of serving the entire society. This brings along the related organizational implications that derive from it in terms of governance, scalability and decision- making processes. To this end, Social Enterprises truly appear to represent a concrete possibility for modern entrepreneurs to engage in social change exploiting to the maximum potential business-oriented practices.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
