Abstract
The intent of project Puzzle is to demonstrate how, from a semi-finished product “simple” obtained through conventional processes, it is possible to get a whole family of products. In this search was chosen as a case study to lighting. Lighting is an area of specific design do to relevant technical skills involved and the implications for ergonomic, functional and psychological acts. Precisely because of its level of complexity, this area is appropriate testing to demonstrate that careful design of an industrial product must take into account many issues not only technological. Puzzle is a lighting system which, thanks to its shape, inspired precisely the homonymous game, is able to induce the formation of layout formats from multiple elements. These groups, not bound in number, may be formed from cells positioned in a manner that is ordered staggered, to form “clouds” three-dimensional. Great attention has finally been given to the technical, with a deep analysis of production processes and technologies applied to the world of lighting and their problems. The intent of project Puzzle is to demonstrate how, from a semi-finished product “simple” obtained through conventional processes, it is possible to get a whole family of products.
