Prediction. Progetto di un occhiale pieghevole trasformabile in gioiello

The project is based on the desire to develop a folding sunglasses characterized by a bending system able to transform the image into a jewel when folded, offering a possible new way of use for the user. The project responds to a need resulted from the research phase and confirmed by the company “Louis Vuitton” for which the product was developed. Starting initially from the analysis of the main models of folding glasses designed by the company and then from those present in the market, the result of the design process is a folding system that allows the rotation of the temples around the lens, giving the product a strong formal identity and a certain degree of protection of the lenses themselves. The metallic finish and the presence of strass characterize the design of the product, creating a pair of glasses that, when folded, become an accessory to show: a bijou eyewear. The eyewear has been studied and designed in order to be attached to a necklace, which can be worn individually by the user, providing a new possible configuration of the product: be worn and shown as a real jewel. It was also developed for the eyewear a leather case, which has its own identity and its own formal function. In fact even if it is not used as custody, it becomes an accessory to use in any occasion: a "charm for bags" easily attachable thanks to the presence of a comfortable and practical carabiner.

L’elaborato di tesi nasce dalla volontà di sviluppare un occhiale pieghevole dotato di un sistema di piegatura in grado di trasformarne l’immagine in gioiello una volta piegato, offrendo un nuovo possibile modo d’uso per l’utente. Il progetto risponde ad una necessità risultata dalla fase di ricerca e confermata dall’azienda di riferimento Louis Vuitton per cui è stato realizzato il prodotto. Partendo inizialmente dall’analisi dei principali modelli di occhiali pieghevoli progettati dall’azienda e successivamente da quelli presenti nel mercato, il risultato del percorso progettuale è un sistema di piegatura che permette la rotazione delle aste intorno alle lenti, conferendo al prodotto una forte identità formale oltre che un certo grado di protezione delle lenti stesse. La finitura metallica e la presenza di strass a binario che caratterizzano il design delle aste, danno vita ad un occhiale che, una volta piegato, si configura come un accessorio da mostrare: un occhiale – bijoux. L’occhiale è stato studiato e progettato in modo da poter essere agganciato una volta chiuso ad una collana sviluppata appositamente, che può essere indossata singolarmente, a piacimento dell’utente, ed utilizzata come sistema di aggancio dell’occhiale, offrendo una nuova possibile configurazione al prodotto: essere indossato e mostrato come un vero e proprio gioiello. E’ stata inoltre sviluppata per l’occhiale una custodia in pelle, avente una propria identità formale e una propria funzione. Essa infatti anche se non utilizzata come custodia, diventa un accessorio per l’utente utilizzabile in ogni occasione: uno “charm per borse” facilmente agganciabile grazie alla presenza di una serie di anelli terminanti con un comodo e pratico moschettone.
