The following report is reflecting our work on the Bangkok Fashion Hub, based on an architectural competition held by HMMD, in November 2014. The fashion industry is seen as one of the most energy intensive industries, and therefore harmful for the environment. So the project aims to design the building with as little carbon footprint as possible, through energy conservation, and reduction of energy consumption. In addition, eco-friendly fabric raw material, bamboo, will be cultivated on site, as to help reduce the carbon footprint of the industry too. Analyzing the climate and the surroundings were our first steps, combining this with the local culture and our own vision on a South-Asian fashion house, we got our architectural solution and form that would attain our goals. The report mainly consists of our research of such different cultural context, hot-humid climate, and the technological and architectural solutions that are implemented.
