Over the last decade, the spread of new business models in the context of the Sharing Economy and the growing interest in Smart Working, an organisational paradigm which allows flexibility and autonomy to the employee according to a results-oriented approach, have occurred. In this scenario, one of the most relevant and emerging phenomena is coworking, an innovative way of working which involves the creation of shared environment and network for workers coming from different organizational or professional backgrounds. The aim of this thesis is to examine the current business model of coworking spaces, further considering its development prospects and the links, both existing and potential, between coworking and Smart Working. The original contribution of the work consists in the definition of a business model for coworking, an emerging phenomenon that, thus far, has not yet been examined in depth from a strategic point of view. The research involved the use of a survey, created within this work and addressed to managers of coworking spaces in Italy, and the development of case studies, concerning the most relevant experiences of coworking in the Italian scenario. Alongside these tools, the Research 2015 of the Smart Working Observatory further frames companies’ viewpoint on the link between coworking and Smart Working. The results show that, nowadays, some building blocks of the business model require a better strategic arrangement that should be more consistent and aligned with the other components of the model. In conclusion, the analysis carried out and concerning the link between coworking and Smart Working have enabled to understand and analyse how these phenomena reciprocally represent a valuable contribution to their spread.

Abstract
Furthermore, the analysis outlines some possible developments of this model, mostly related to a widening of the customer segments addressed by coworking spaces, to a review of the value proposition and to a greater involvement of Public Administration. In conclusion, the analysis carried out and concerning the link between coworking and Smart Working have enabled to understand and analyse how these phenomena reciprocally represent a valuable contribution to their spread.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
