The issue of modularisation for EPC projects has attracted many companies worldwide, but the concept of offsite construction is not very well understood yet. This work aims at filling the gap between academic and practitioner view and increasing knowledge of modularisation in the Oil and Gas industry. It shows how a theoretical framework on modularisation has been successfully applied in seven case studies from four companies. A replicable methodology is given to illustrate how to customise the proposed framework in an operative context, in order to apply that in many other industries. Within-case analysis, theoretical comparison and cross-case analysis drive to the creation of a complete and ready to use instrument, based on the results of case studies, as support to decision makers. The purpose is to increase both awareness and knowledge of a firm about the potential of the modular approach and to offer a proper support for decisions along the overall project delivery chain and under the different stakeholders’ point of view. The comparison among theoretical studies about the modular approach and the real practice in EPC field allows finding further developments of industrial plant projects execution.

Abstract
The comparison among theoretical studies about the modular approach and the real practice in EPC field allows finding further developments of industrial plant projects execution.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
