Abstract
The research topic is focuses on the reactivation of submerged archaeological sites through immediate actions in different intensities. The preservation of archaeological sites requires appropriate and innovative solutions in order to preserve the heritage of ancient cultures in the original context. This is a significant change of perspective, which involves technological limitations and requires significant research efforts, where conservation becomes the best way to preserve the memory and cultural valorization of underwater cultural heritage protection site considering not only environmental agents, but also anthropological transformations. The main objective of the project deepened during the thesis is to investigate the processes of preservation and regeneration of submerged archaeological sites, with particular attention to the role in re-signification of forgotten places in medium and small realities as mountain context. In particular, the study case is Fabbriche of Careggine between the Apuan Alps, submerged in the years ' 50 in order that the valley could become the largest hydroelectric reservoir for the Tuscany, that resurfaces every ten years for maintenance purposes, which holds potential for growth both from the point of view of tourism and of landscape. The project aims to experiment new approaches in the use of archaeological sites, able to operate in two different design levels; in one hand in recognition and consequent attention to a place of high historical and cultural significance through monitoring supported by technological mechanisms, on the other hand, the possibility of making accessible such place, make aware people on the significance of underwater cultural heritage, through floating systems in relation with the ruins, that at the same time are integrate with fixed systems in relation with the ground and able to communicate with the surrounding context. Define strategies and operational assumptions for the development of innovative spaces can become an integral part of a landscape already rather complex shows that the ability to adapt to change in recent decades has been the main factor of development and progress. This is especially important when the fruition has the ability to reactivate a site and his associated activities, considering it as a resource for the development andt the transformation of urban contexts. People can benefit from the inherent opportunities by introducing research spaces in close relation to the principle of an informational Museum in order to make sites accessible to the public.
