ReviVIS. Riqualificazione dell'ex Vismara a Casatenovo : progetto di un nuovo centro culturale, residenze e spazi pubblici

This research project (“reviVIS”) focuses on the re-evaluation of the area currently occupied by “Vismara”, a food production company based in the centre of Casatenovo (LC). The area under investigation is a vast space which had already been evaluated in 2010 during a previous contest (never to be followed up) who’s aim was to modernize it under a rural, social, cultural and economical point of view. Taking into consideration the requests of the contest, this thesis will not follow the threads of the 2010 examination of the space. It will focus on a detailed analysis under a socio-demographic and urban point of view with the objective of identifying the most adequate functions and infrastructures needed in regards the development requests of the country. It will simultaneously take into account residential capacity, the tertiary and commercial sectors as well as public areas for potential settlement. Such investments will be influenced by the current crisis within the housing sector and for such reason the hypothesis suggests actions to be taken for future interventions based on different steps. In this project a complete master plan will be built around the target area, in view to then concentrate on developing a cultural centre to be the focal point for the future development of the surrounding public spaces. The second part of the project then looked to elaborate on the purpose of the newly created centre. The centre itself was established as a result of a detailed analysis given the fore mentioned needs whilst taking into consideration a socio-demographic and literary aspect (at the same time applying common instructions and methodologies). This thesis initially looks to carry out an analysis of the area but is followed up with a strict integration of architectural, structural and technological aspects. Specific focus will be placed firstly on the structural elements of the project (created using relevant software applications) and secondly on the design of displayed technology who’s aim is to control solar radiation and guarantee a comfortable lighting and temperature scenario within the centre. The façade of the centre will be built with rhombus shaped modules. using specifically designed “GRC” technology who’s permeability varies in function of the incident radiation. Thanks to this specific design, the new centre will gain a new elaborate character within the target area.

La tesi “reviVIS“ riguarda il progetto di riqualificazione dell’area attualmente occupata dall’industria alimentare “Vismara”, nel centro di Casatenovo (LC). Si tratta di un’area molto ampia, già oggetto di un concorso nel 2010 (rimasto senza alcun seguito), che potrebbe essere volano di una riqualificazione urbana, sociale, culturale ed economica del tessuto urbano. Pur tenendo conto delle richieste in esso espresse, il lavoro di tesi non è partito dal bando di concorso del 2010, bensì da una dettagliata analisi del contesto di tipo urbanistico e socio-demografico, finalizzata a individuare le destinazioni d’uso più adeguate, le funzioni e le attrezzature pubbliche di cui necessita il paese, nonché le quantità di residenza, terziario, commerciale e spazi pubblici attrezzati che sarebbe ipotizzabile insediarvi. Tali investimenti si scontrano ovviamente con l’attuale crisi del settore immobiliare, e per questa ragione il masterplan ipotizza un intervento per lotti successivi (ferma restando, ovviamente, la finalità didattica del progetto di tesi). Nella tesi, dunque, viene sviluppato l’intero masterplan dell’area, per poi concentrare il progetto sul Centro Culturale, che ne costituisce il fulcro, e sugli spazi pubblici circostanti. La fase successiva del lavoro ha visto l’elaborazione del programma funzionale del nuovo Centro Culturale, anch’esso elaborato ad hoc a seguito di un attenta analisi delle esigenze del contesto, dal punto di vista socio-demografico e biblioteconomico (applicando metodologie e indicazioni desunte dalla manualistica corrente). A partire dal programma funzionale, il progetto persegue una stretta integrazione tra aspetti architettonici, strutturali e tecnologici, con una particolare focalizzazione da un lato sul progetto strutturale (sviluppato avvalendosi anche di specifici software di calcolo), dall’altro sul progetto del disegno e della tecnologia di facciata, volti a controllare la radiazione solare e garantire il comfort termico ed illuminotecnico ai visitatori. La facciata, costituita da moduli romboidali in “GRC” disegnati e progettati ad hoc con differente permeabilità in funzione della radiazione incidente, costituisce, assieme alle grandi pensiline a sbalzo, l’elemento caratterizzante dell’architettura del nuovo centro culturale.
