The present study shows the results of a series of numerical analysis concerning the deformation behavior of not reinforced excavation in clay. These studies were performed using a finite element code calculations. It was evaluated the influence that the constitutive modelling of the two-phase medium assumes in the definition of the characteristic curve of the excavation face. By suitable calibration of the parameters it was possible to carry out a valid comparison between axisymmetric analysis and three-dimensional analysis. Finally it was analyzed the influence of the variable 'time' on the response of the front, in terms of speed of excavation's execution. For this purpose, numerical analysis were performed in transient conditions in which the problem was solved taking into account hydro-mechanical coupling. It was therefore defined a dimensionless group useful to provide a forecast in the planning stage, about the kind of response expected as a function of the speed of the construction phase.
Nel presente elaborato sono illustrati i risultati di una serie di analisi numeriche concernenti il comportamento deformativo di fronti di scavo non rinforzati in argilla. Tali studi sono stati eseguiti utilizzando un codice di calcolo agli elementi finiti. E' stata valutata l'influenza che la modellazione costitutiva del mezzo bifase assume nella definizione della curva caratteristica del fronte. Mediante un'opportuna calibrazione dei parametri è stato possibile eseguire un valido confronto tra analisi assialsimmetriche e analisi tridimensionali. Infine è stata analizzata l'influenza della variabile 'tempo' sulla risposta del fronte, in termini di velocità di esecuzione dello scavo. A tal fine sono state eseguite analisi numeriche in condizioni transitorie in cui il problema è stato risolto tenendo conto dell'accoppiamento idro-meccanico. E' stato quindi definito un gruppo adimensionale utile a fornire una previsione in fase progettuale, circa il tipo di risposta attesa in funzione della velocità di avanzamento.
