Frameworks for evaluating the performance of health system

In the last years, a comprehensive assessment of performance of health care system has become crucial to measure progress. This research proposes a view of three frameworks to advance the understanding of health system performance: the three dimensions of evaluation utilized in the World Health Report 2000, Meridiano Sanità Index and the Commonwealth Fund Scorecard on health system performance. Comparison among different countries could provide a base for debates on the effect of different patterns of health system organization and also highlights areas for further research and refinement of the frameworks and discusses whether and how policymakers can promote specific group attributes as a means of improving value.

Negli ultimi anni, la valutazione della performance dei sistemi sanitari ha acquisito un’importanza notevole per misurarne il progresso. Questa ricerca propone una visione di tre strutture atte a promuovere la comprensione delle performance dei sitemi sanitari: le tre dimensioni di valutazione utilizzate nel World Health Report 2000, l’indice Meridiano Sanità e il Commonwhealth Fund Scorecard sulla performance dei sistemi sanitari. Il confronto tra differenti stati può fornire una base di dibattito sugli effetti dei differenti modelli di organizzazione dei sistemi sanitari, evidenziare le aree della struttura che necessitano di ulteriori ricerche e rifinimenti e discutere se e come i politici possono promuovere specifici gruppi di attributi allo scopo di aumentarne il valore.
