Over the past decades, several fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement systems have been extensively developed and used. “Near-Surface Mounted” (NSM) FRP reinforcement is one of most innovative and most promising strengthening techniques, which involves the use of FRP rods to increase the flexural and shear strength of deficient concrete structures. In this regard, the main objective of this thesis was to analyse the reliability of the most important guidelines for the design of flexural strengthening NSM systems. To perform calculations, a database containing experimental results of 155 RC beams strengthened in flexure with NSM rods and tested to failure has been created. Based on this, the nominal flexural strength of each beam has been calculated, following the rules of the selected guidelines (CNR DT 200 R1/2013, ACI 440.2R-08, CSA S806 e TR55), and compared with the maximum bending moment experimentally reported. Statistical analyses have revealed that the results calculated following ACI 440.2R-08 guideline were the most accurate, despite the calculation procedure was relatively simple, while the other methods presented problems of underestimation or overestimation of results.

Abstract
Statistical analyses have revealed that the results calculated following ACI 440.2R-08 guideline were the most accurate, despite the calculation procedure was relatively simple, while the other methods presented problems of underestimation or overestimation of results.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
