Under the skin. Una sperimentazione tessile tra maglieria e pelletteria

The aim of the project is to develop a parallel path between knitwear and leather goods, thanks to a ”technology" transfer from one to another. This experiment has been developed by using tanneries machinery and techniques, applied on knitwear instead. The kid was identified as the common point between the knitted fabric and the leather: the kid is used both for the wool regarding knitwear (cashmere and mohair) and for the skin (by the tanning industry). The three conceptual garments have the purpose of showing the textile experimentation. The first is made of leather, with no textile elaboration. The second is made of needle-felted knitted-wool and leather in two distinguishable though melted layers. The third is the foremost of the experimentation, and is made of knitted wool treated with tanneries machinery and finishing techniques typical of the tannery industry. With this third technique the knitted garment looks like real leather and causes the same feeling if you touch it. The garments are the developments of three geometric shapes that cover the body. They are not linked to a specific kind of garment (coat, skirt, jacket etc ...), because the focus of the project is the experimental texture and not the garment shape.

Il progetto si propone di sviluppare un percorso parallelo tra due settori del mondo moda tra loro molto diversi, la maglieria e la pelletteria, operando un trasferimento di “tecnologia” da un ambito all’altro. Questa sperimentazione è stata affrontata utilizzando i macchinari e le tecniche propri dei finissaggi superficiali in pelletteria, ma sul tessuto di maglia. Il capretto è stato identificato come punto comune tra il tessuto di maglia e la pelle: infatti, del capretto, viene utilizzata sia la lana per la maglieria (cashmere e mohaire) che la pelle (nell’industria conciaria, finalizzata alla produzione di accessori moda). I tre capi concettuali che vengono presentati hanno lo scopo di mostrare le sperimentazioni tessili sviluppate; il primo in pelle vera e propria, non presenta alcuna elaborazione. Il secondo, in evoluzione rispetto al precedente, unisce la maglia e la pelle mantenendo le due entità separate, ed è così un capo di maglia e pelle uniti attraverso agugliatura. Il terzo ed ultimo step di questa evoluzione è rappresentato dall’ultimo capo, interamente in maglia lavorata con macchinari e finissaggi propri dell' industria conciaria. Ne risulta così un capo in maglia che all’aspetto e al tatto è assimilabile alla pelle. I tre capi sono lo sviluppo di tre forme geometriche che vestono il corpo, non riconducibili quindi a una tipologia di capo preciso (cappotto, gonna, giacca ecc…), in quanto l’oggetto della sperimentazione è la superficie tessile e non il capo o la sua forma.
