Abstract

Women’s wear capsule collections that will be presented as a master thesis project will explore the limits of two and three dimensional voluminous garments. Deconstruction/Construction makes this collection a contemporary vision of classic womenswear. The play with negative and positive spaces inspired by artists such as Gordon Matta Clark makes shapes & silhouettes that support the graphic/linear aspect of the garments. Exploring the pattern cutting with color blocks defy logic and create new laws of gravity and movement. Playing with forms, colors, inspiring from Gordon’s space - Space of imaginations and memory. This energy is transferred into garments created in layered fabrics. Under the influence of work by illustrator Mark Whalen, photographer Bernhard Lang, artist Lola Dupré and Helene Schmitz sketches carries emotion with mixed media that I used – as a collage, pastel, ink, graphite, wax, markers, lacquer/nail polish. Modeling, pattern making or cuts is also a very important step in the research of construction i.e. deconstructions garments. Collection named ‘’Bring the Secret to the Surface’’ carries the meaning of whole work process that explains what research related with pattern cutting mean in function of the body and silhouette. All those little ‘catch’ and hard work in laboratories that cannot be seen on the garment at first glance, I want to accentuate and explain that important knowledge of the structure on the each pieces. I want it all to bring on surface. For each step. What defines this woman? Woman that is feminine -simple and natural are her watchwords. She dresses to accentuate her beauty in a modern timeless way. It’s not just about dressing up; clothes are a delight to express herself.
