Liminal constructed geography

Landscapes of geological strata, or covered by blankets of cold lava, or by the ever-moving sands and the changing dunes, patent-leather rivers of this same solidified lava and the sandy lips of many beaches caressed by the surge of the sea, tropical vegetation and that deriving from human effort, the agricultural buildings and traditional dwellings; the repertoire of Lanzarote’s varied terrains. The physical landscape and the actual geography of an unusual island that has sprung from destructive forces. What we manage to observe is a battle of various natural forces together with human interventions that shape the island’s geography, which also seem to be interdependent in shaping the identity of the island. What is called for is an effort to recover the residual fragments that seem to be a heterogeneous element, in this seemingly stable ecology. Where the trace of natural movements or cultural activity is absent.In architecture, the ‘between’ centers its interest on what mediates – the architecture of relation and tangency. It is a conquering between two belligerent territories. Strange, infiltrated, camouflaged. The project area is situated where two layers of the natural lands and agricultural fields collide, while directing itself with the tangency of the barranco. In fact, this “gasket” capacity of the interstitial void implicit in these irregular configurations. This possible rhythm among the occupied, the omitted and the linked: fills, voids and links, that is to say surfaces, points and lines that interrupt spatial sequences and combinations. The void, thus, does not separate but joins. It is a clip between events which serves as linkage, given that it is the void itself that permits the articulation of routes, supports andaccesses, producing channels of connection; real or virtual. Of course, every site is already unique. The topography, surface material, scale, and light peculiar to a particular place creates a special character. This character is built upon layers -from the bedrock, through chalk and clay sediments, to the Ice-Age deposits of stone and gravel that have been subject to the influences of climate and the actions of human settlement for centuries. These endless combinatorial possibilities provide the basis for the essential to be deduced. Local conditions of material, light, space, and structure ought to inspire and generate new forms of design as needs and desires change.

Il paesaggio fisico e la geografia reale di un'isola insolita che è scaturita da forze distruttive. Ciò che riusciamo a osservare è una battaglia di varie forze naturali insieme a interventi umani che modellano la geografia dell'isola, che sembrano anche essere interdipendenti nel plasmare l'identità dell'isola. Quello che viene chiamato per è uno sforzo per recuperare i frammenti residui che sembrano essere un elemento eterogeneo, in questa ecologia apparentemente stabile. Dove la traccia dei movimenti naturali o attività culturale è architettura absent.In, il 'fra' centri il suo interesse su che cosa medi - L'architettura di relazione e tangenza. Si tratta di una conquista tra i due territori belligeranti. Strano, infiltrato, mimetizzato. È una clip tra gli eventi che serve come collegamento, dato che è il vuoto stessa che permette l'articolazione di percorsi, supporta andaccesses, producendo canali di collegamento; reale o virtuale. Naturalmente, ogni sito è già unico. La topografia, superficie materiale, scala, e peculiare luce in un determinato luogo crea un carattere speciale. Questo carattere è costruita su strati -da il fondamento, attraverso gesso e argilla sedimenti, al Ice-Age depositi di pietra e ghiaia che sono stati sottoposti alle influenze del clima e le azioni di insediamento umano per secoli. Queste possibilità combinatorie infinite forniscono la base per l'essenziale per dedurre. Le condizioni locali di materiale, luce, spazio, e la struttura deve ispirare e generare nuove forme di design come bisogni e desideri cambiano.
