In between the mountains and sea of Montenegro, developing the waterfront of Tivat

On the global stage, a name and reputation mark a key to success. In the recent years, Montenegro has emerged as a new touristic destination, featured in many world renovated magazines. Relatively new, a country is growing on its touristic potential but lacks strong identity. The aim of this thesis is to research and provide an answer to a question of identity and strong image of Montenegro on global stage of competitive countries. Project aims at creating a pilot project, a prototype that will address the needs of a specific location, while in the same time strengthen the identity of the town. Project is located in the city Tivat, a small coastal town of great strategic importance for future development of Montenegro. In the recent years it has become a symbol of elite tourism and hosts the only airport in the coast of Montenegro. In this work, proposed concept redevelops an abandoned area into modern concept green stage that complements the needs of town, tourist and visitors. Furthermore, respecting the natural elements and integrating contemporary architectural expression into vernacular background, designed solution strengthens the image of the town. As a prototype, it shows a clear connection in between the city center and main infrastructure knot, while preserving the surrounding nature.
