Among them are the problems discussed in this thesis work. Firstly, it is the complexity of structural behaviour, required tied collaboration between the architect and engineer from the initial stage of design. On the grounds that the membrane structures are peculiar tension structures, in which the tension forces are the shape defining factor. Secondly, another important problem is the weight and permanence of anchorage system, contributing a lot not only to the lightness and adaptability of the temporary structures, but also to the visual aesthetic compatibility with the building environment. This thesis work also explores the main characteristics of the temporary membrane structures with mechanical pretension, such as their prototypes, materials, structural types, fields of application. The classification on the basis of sphere of application and function elaborated in this research shows, that temporary membrane structures with mechanical pretension are widespread in addition to the public cultural sphere (entertainment, recreation, exhibition, etc.) also for the archeological, military and emergency usages.

Abstract
Temporary membrane architecture is one of the tools to follow the pace of development and reply to the needs of people in the modern world. This type of architecture has a range of evident benefits, such as lightness, flexibility, rapidness in installation and operation, adaptability, possibility of multiple use. Temporary membrane structures influence significantly the sphere of building technologies, stimulating the advance in architecture. Moreover, temporary membrane structures can be only one possible solution to the difficult building problems that require innovative and flexible approaches, for instance, large span temporary buildings with low mass and huge holding capacity for the use in the public cultural sphere. To fully use the advantages of temporary membrane structures and broaden the range of potential application, the certain issues should be considered. The classification on the basis of sphere of application and function elaborated in this research shows, that temporary membrane structures with mechanical pretension are widespread in addition to the public cultural sphere (entertainment, recreation, exhibition, etc.) also for the archeological, military and emergency usages.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
