‘Regenerate. Codesign for the generation of sustainable solutions’ is a thesis project born and developed in the course of my curricular internship in Stockholm (Sweden) with the company Greenworks and proposed by the municipality of Sundbyberg during the development of a series of urban works aimed at improve the area. The considered context for the urban renovation is the square of Sundbyberg, located in front of the metro station and place of passage for citizens belonging to the two quarters of Hallonbergen and Ör. Over the years, the lack of a defined identity have made it a non-place, an environment “necessary for the accelerated circulation of people and goods”, an area in which citizens do not recognize a belonging and an area able to mark the clear division between citizens of different nationalities and residents in different neighbourhoods. How to connect citizens, making them feel part of the same community? How transform the square from a non-place to a place characterized by its own identity and recognize as a meeting point? The project, finalized to the generation of sustainable solutions aimed at create aggregation, sharing, opportunities of dialogue and social experiences, has its roots in the co-design and co-working with citizens, through a 360° involvement in all the design phases. Initiated through individual interviews, the relationship with the future users has become more and more dense in the process and made it possible to develop the pilot event ‘Lesson from grandpa’: an event organized once a week, whose goal was to connect citizens of different ages and share knowledges and traditions through urban cultivation. From here it was also possible to generate sustainable urban furniture able to support the event and the stop in the square and freely usable by commuters and passer-by throughout the day. The design project tools, combined with the strategy and event management, allowed to build experiences, connecting users, creating a sense of belonging and giving a more defined identity to the square.
‘Regenerate.

Abstract
The design project tools, combined with the strategy and event management, allowed to build experiences, connecting users, creating a sense of belonging and giving a more defined identity to the square.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
