In this thesis project we construct high frequency solutions, or parametrices, of hyperbolic equations with a memory term. These equations come from the linear viscoelasticity and they have been studied through the use of microlocal analysis. The solutions we build, represent a first attempt in better understanding wave propagation in these materials. Moreover they are the fundamental blocks for seismic imaging and tomography algorithms that, in the future, could help in studying the anelastic properties of the Earth.

Abstract
In this thesis project we construct high frequency solutions, or parametrices, of hyperbolic equations with a memory term. These equations come from the linear viscoelasticity and they have been studied through the use of microlocal analysis. The solutions we build, represent a first attempt in better understanding wave propagation in these materials. Moreover they are the fundamental blocks for seismic imaging and tomography algorithms that, in the future, could help in studying the anelastic properties of the Earth.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
