Payment systems in Chinese and cross-border e-commerce

The starting point of this thesis is the boom of Chinese cross-border e-commerce market and the sufficient room for Italian companies to increase their exporting volumes and extend the exporting regions. Acknowledging that online payment system is a crucial factor for cross-border e-commerce initiative, the main objective of the present thesis is to give a picture of the online payment market in China. The analysis is conducted to derive useful insights for those Italian exporters who are planning to export to China through e-commerce. In particular, the objective is to facilitate them with up-to-dated information on the development and trends in Chinese domestic and cross-border e-payment market, so as to support their future decision-making.
