The automotive market is continuously expanding and it is undergoing many changes. As customer’s demand in terms of quality and performances is rising and the competition on the market is high, car manufacturers have to invest in research and development, in order to satisfy the customer requirements and contain the costs. In this scenario, the following research focuses on the analysis and optimization of a part of the development process of the front axle and of the steering system, as it is being implemented by the BMW Group, aimed at defining the mechanical and the electrical component characteristics with reference to the maximum load operating conditions. The specific procedures of experimental measurement of the parking maneuver are analyzed in depth in order to improve the quality of the results, in terms of reproducibility and accuracy, and the related development costs and times.

Abstract
The automotive market is continuously expanding and it is undergoing many changes. As customer’s demand in terms of quality and performances is rising and the competition on the market is high, car manufacturers have to invest in research and development, in order to satisfy the customer requirements and contain the costs. In this scenario, the following research focuses on the analysis and optimization of a part of the development process of the front axle and of the steering system, as it is being implemented by the BMW Group, aimed at defining the mechanical and the electrical component characteristics with reference to the maximum load operating conditions. The specific procedures of experimental measurement of the parking maneuver are analyzed in depth in order to improve the quality of the results, in terms of reproducibility and accuracy, and the related development costs and times.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
