The magnetic field mapping in accelerator magnets aperture is one of the main competences of the Magnetic Measurement at CERN (Conseil européen pour la recherche nucléaire). The current state of the art makes it possible to map the magnetic flux density using a Hall probe or a rotating coil. Successively, the measurement data can be developed into functions that solve the Laplace equation in 2D and 3D. The final purpose of this procedure is to reconstruct the magnetic flux density inside the magnet. The objective of this work is to propose an alternative method for computing the local field, starting from measurements on a boundary surface and applying the Boundary Element Method (BEM).

Abstract
The magnetic field mapping in accelerator magnets aperture is one of the main competences of the Magnetic Measurement at CERN (Conseil européen pour la recherche nucléaire). The current state of the art makes it possible to map the magnetic flux density using a Hall probe or a rotating coil. Successively, the measurement data can be developed into functions that solve the Laplace equation in 2D and 3D. The final purpose of this procedure is to reconstruct the magnetic flux density inside the magnet. The objective of this work is to propose an alternative method for computing the local field, starting from measurements on a boundary surface and applying the Boundary Element Method (BEM).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
