It frequently happens to see instruments exposed in museums, ancient or modern, that cannot be played by the visitors because of their corruption and extreme fragility. Indeed they are preserved in closed cases with simple captions describing them. The aim of this thesis is to design and to develop the sound elements of an interactive installation for an ancient Pan flute exhibited in the Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art (MSA), University of Padova. This installation can be seen in the context of Active preservation, where a virtual representation of the instrument can be accessed from a large number of people. This is part of a bigger project which aim is to study and promote this magnificent find, working with multidisciplinary methodologies and collaborations. In the following are described in details: the find and the state of the project at the beginning of this thesis, the study of the tuning of the instrument, the implementation of a flute equipped with sensors to interpret visitors breath and the developing of a digital playable interface of the instrument on a touch screen.

Abstract
In the following are described in details: the find and the state of the project at the beginning of this thesis, the study of the tuning of the instrument, the implementation of a flute equipped with sensors to interpret visitors breath and the developing of a digital playable interface of the instrument on a touch screen.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
