Student housing in Bebek, Istanbul

An architectural design project aimed for the young people of the historical and panaromical neighborhood of Bebek, Istanbul. The historical and rich urban texture of Istanbul is analyzed and investigations were made zooming in to the Bebek neighborhood from greater Istanbul. Design principles were set in light of research that is made on the region investigating the existing topography, local architecture and traditional building materials. The final design aims to build a bridge between the past and present, in reference to Istanbul’s contemporary city life which has traces of its rich culture and history all over. The main design principle, following of the curvature of the topography is expressed boldly throughout the project. The project consists of three main elements; student houses, social center and a youth library. The project aims to present a liveable and social environment for the students and young people of the region, a place to breathe and express themselves freely.

Un progetto architettonico mirato per i giovani del quartiere storico e panaromical di Bebek, Istanbul. Il tessuto urbano storico di Istanbul è analizzato e le indagini sono state fatte. Le indagini sono fatte sulla regione, esaminando, la topografia esistente, l'architettura locale e materiali da costruzione tradizionali. Il progetto definitivo mira a costruire un ponte tra il passato e il presente, in riferimento alla vita della città contemporanea di Istanbul, che ha tracce della sua ricca storia e cultura in tutto. Il principio costruttivo principale era seguire la curvatura della topografia. Il progetto si compone di tre elementi principali; case per studenti, centro sociale e una biblioteca per i giovani. Il progetto si propone di presentare un ambiente vivibile e sociale per gli studenti ed i giovani della regione, un luogo per respirare ed esprimersi liberamente.
