The following thesis analyzes the need for companies to adopt Advanced Analytics. Important events linked to the ICT world – like the establishment of social networks, the increasing importance of mobile devices and the internet as a globally competitive area – have led to a rapid increase in the number of areas in which companies compete. Influencing customer habits and expectations and exponentially increasing the rate of innovation within the industry. For a long time, business leaders have based strategic decisions on their personal intuition and experience. The diversity and complexity of this increasingly competitive environment, as well as company processes, have made this approach no longer sufficient to understand the world we live in and to manage company processes in an efficient way. This subject is a growing area of interest for companies, due to the possibility to collect, manage and analyze in a short timeframe enormous amounts of data. Companies will have to deal with two main phenomenon: a greater complexity in data management and the continuous growth in the complexity of analysis techniques. The introduction of informatics tools is developing to answer these new needs. Especially concerning the Analytics environment, where the traditional architectures are no longer sufficient to provide suitable support to the continually evolving environment. The latest solutions in Analytics, Advanced Analytics and Big Data (high data volumes, triggered from different sources, which require high-speed data handling), are well established in the business environment in their technologic profile but less defined in the way companies apply them and in which field. The suggested framework aims to guide organizations to adopt Advanced Analytics solutions, highlighting the attainable benefits and providing the relevant guidelines to manage the change. The new proposal has been defined by applying the meta-synthesis approach. Starting from a comparison of different maturity models related to business information systems management. These have been analyzed either through academic models or frameworks created from research and consultancy companies. With the goal of identifying the critical dimensions of the analysis, the possible evaluation criteria and the research areas still unexplored which the new proposal addresses. Following this, thanks to the addition of the results the new model has been built. The new proposal is composed of an assessment tool that enables the identification and processing of the business data collected, related to the adoption of Advanced Analytics solutions. The assessment tool is comprised of a survey that identifies how developed a company is in their use of analytics management and of an analysis of the critical factors, which can increase or decrease the company’s maturity in this area. The model proposed has two purposes: an evaluation one, that measures the maturity profile of the AS-IS configuration adoption and a regulation one that proposes an evolution roadmap toward the TO-BE configuration. To validate the model applicability and to calibrate the evaluations parameters used, the proposed model has been applied to three companies with different profiles.
