It is not difficult to build energy efficient data center from the scratch, as today many technologies and recent studies are available. But concerning substantial investments that already tied in existing data center, this task becomes rather sophisticated. This thesis aims to understand the current position of data centers in the field of Green IT, as they are accountable for major energy consumption, thus impacting environment. To address energy efficiency issues of data center operation, existing methods and techniques were analyzed, to develop a complex methodology that is applicable to existing data center. A case study was conducted in existing data center, for its energy efficiency assessment and further improvement, carried out at application level. Findings show that proposed application-driven methodology allowed to increase data center energy efficiency by 42%, while average load increased by 49.5% and physical server count decreased by 44.4%.

Abstract
Findings show that proposed application-driven methodology allowed to increase data center energy efficiency by 42%, while average load increased by 49.5% and physical server count decreased by 44.4%.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
