Photovoltaic-thermal (PV/T) collectors are commonly designed for use in domestic systems: they provide heat and electricity simultaneously to single/multifamily houses. The aim of this thesis is dual: to review existing PV/T collector models and to study the ones already implemented in TRNSYS. Firstly, a literature review is done to discover the most used physical models and their evolution during the last decades. Secondly, the TRNSYS Types are examined to underline their strengths and weaknesses: Type 50, 250, 560 and 563 are analysed. Since Type 560 seems to be the most promising one, especially for unglazed collectors, several aspects and hypothesis of this tool are investigated. The analysis is focused on: solar radiation model, conductive resistance of the PV top layers, electrical efficiency definition, mismatch between PV cells and view factors. TRNSYS Types are limited to sheet and tube configuration. Type 560 inputs are modified to adapt it to a rectangular shape absorber. To test this modification, a secondary 1D model is created. Engineering Equation Solver (EES) and MATLAB are used to build auxiliary models co-simulated with TRNSYS.
