Abstract
Titanium disulphide nanosheets were characterised through various investigative techniques, with particular emphasis on optical absorption, used to monitor the extent of their oxidation, and on the vibrational properties measured via Raman spectroscopy. The underlying properties of the material are presented and discussed, while previously reported results are compared with the ones following from this work. The parameters influencing the quality of its exfoliation are investigated and optimized. A consistent behaviour encountered in titanium disulphide nanosheets, unreported at the present time, is presented concerning the formation of its oxide in air. Finally, the effect of dimensionality on the vibrational properties of titanium disulphide nanosheets is investigated and discussed with respect to its plausible explanation, while a method to differentiate titanium disulphide nanosheets with respect to their thickness by interpretation of the Raman spectra is presented.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
