The thesis was born from the desire to give oneself a challenge, to make sense of these years of study in Milano, to taste the learned skills, but above all, it want to be a test case prior to insertion into the working world, a sort of personal reassurance to an uncertain future. The passion for the topic was born during Synthesis in which we have faced the issue of electric vehicles combine with the mechanical aspect of a scooter. During these months I have been very interested in the project because I saw it like a perfect synthesis of acquired skills, able to capture all the nuances of the degree course in Design & Engineering, a perfect link between the role of engineering and design, which must go hand in hand for development a quality product. From here the desire to develop a motorcycle capable of arousing emotions, something able to sigh the word WOW to anyone see it, a unique pulsation that prelude to a single reaction, a desire to have it and play with it; but also to create a product, that, at least on paper, it is perfectly reasonable to designed driving performance and all the features sought for this project. The thesis is structured as follow: a first analysis of market and new technologies to try to better interpret the today signals for predict what will be the future ways of conceive a modern ride in every single aspect (technologic and stylistic). Once defined the basic features of the motorcycle, we will go to define the design of the product with the scope to integrate mechanic and stylistic aspects. After this we will go to the real design stage that, with the support of CAD programs and thanks to an analytical analysis, we will go to develop the mechanical side. All this stages will be joined by a continuous aesthetic analysis that will evolve with mechanical aspect. At the end the design will be defined and all the details will be engineered. The result of this process will be an engineered and styled product in grade to be prototype for check the real drive features, these features could be only predicted by analysis and calculations for the complexity of studied system. All with the hope of future commercialization.
Questa tesi nasce dalla voglia di mettersi in gioco, di dare un senso a questi anni di studio a Milano, testare le competenze e le abilità apprese, ma soprattutto vuole essere un banco di prova prima dell’inserimento nel mondo del lavoro, una sorta di rassicurazione personale per un futuro ancora molto incerto. La passione per il tema che verrà trattato nasce durante il corso di sintesi finale in cui abbiamo affrontato le tematiche di uno scooter elettrico e cercato di progettarne uno al meglio delle nostre possibilità. Durante tali mesi mi sono molto interessato al progetto in quanto lo vedevo come un riassunto delle competenze apprese, in grado di cogliere tutte le sfumature del corso di laurea in Design & Engineering, un connubio perfetto fra la parte ingegneristica e quella di design le quali devono andare di pari passo per sviluppare un prodotto di qualità. Da qui il desiderio di sviluppare un motociclo in grado di suscitare un’emozione, un non so che in grado di far sospirare la parola WOW a chiunque lo vedesse, un palpito inconfondibile che prelude ad un’unica reazione, il desiderio di averlo e di giocarci; ma anche creare un prodotto che almeno sulla carta sia perfettamente congruo alle prestazioni di guida desiderate e a tutte le caratteristiche ricercate per questo progetto. La tesi si svilupperà quindi in una prima analisi del mercato e delle nuove tecnologie per cercare di interpretare al meglio i segnali odierni per prevedere quali saranno le strade future, sia per quanto riguarda l’aspetto tecnologico che quello stilistico. Una volta definite le caratteristiche di base del veicolo, quindi tecnologia e mercato si passerà allo stato dell’arte quindi a comprendere al meglio le tecnologie scelte per integrarle perfettamente fra di loro. Fatto questo si passa alla fase progettuale vera e propria in cui mediante il supporto di programmi CAD e di analisi analitiche si svilupperà la parte meccanica del motociclo. Tutti questi passaggi verranno affiancati da una continua analisi estetica che evolverà con l’avanzare della meccanica stessa per poi andarsi a definire nella parte finale in cui verranno curati i dettagli. Il risultato di tutto questo processo sarà un prodotto ingegnerizzato ed esteticamente definito in grado di essere prototipato per verificarne le reali caratteristiche di guida, le quali potranno essere solo predette tramite analisi e calcoli per la complessità del sistema in studio, il tutto nella speranza di una futura commercializzazione.
